.,.. Says he has learnt from
mistakes
Imo former governor Ikedi Ohakim
says he has learnt from the mistakes of his first tenure as governor and is
representing himself for the exalted seat of governor again..
Declaration his intention during
an interactive meeting with media practitioners in IMO state on Saturday, the former governor said he is still of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) and will vie for nomination in that party only. He the clear indications
as to why he wants to come back as IMO governor.
“What Imo State needs now is not only a
driver, but a driver mechanic with experience to move the state forward. That
the driver of Imo State in the last 7 years has damaged it's engine of governance,
progress and development, that what Imo needs in 2019 is not only a driver that
will drive the vehicle but a "mechanic driver" who will holistically
look at the car, from experience, find it's fault, repair it and move it
forward with its passengers together as a team”.
Listing the crimes of Governor
Rochas Okorocha who sacked him in 2011 as governor, Ohakin said he is mostly
ached that Governor Okorocha is owing judges in the state up to 16 months
salary, vowing to mobilize Imo people to
Governor Okorocha to pay the judges, intoning that a woman deserves his wages. OIhakim said he
will do this if the governor failed to pay the judges of the state before the
end of next month.
He went on : "I want to bring happiness to
Imo again, to bring back private invest and return Imo as cleanness state in
Nigeria"
Speaking very confidently about
his chances in the forthcoming general election if he finally gets his party’s
ticket, Ohakim said he would not run the type of campaign that other candidates
will be running because he is already
known by his records of the first tenure
in office.
Hear him: “My style of campaign
will be different from others. Because I am not an aspirant but a candidate, “
“I have toured the 305 INEC wards
in Imo State, and have more than 40 persons who believed in me in 5000 polling
booths in Imo, all I need is to active them.".
"There's
no going back . We must get it right this time. The
lives of our people would no longer be objects for experimentation. Mistakes have been made and lessons have been learned and now,
together, we are taking Imo State back into the Hands of God come 2019. We owe
our future generations that much"
“I want to come
back to create the right investment climate that would credibly and
consistently support current businesses and attract new investments by
promoting investors-friendly reforms and providing valuable incentives.
Building effective partnership aimed at targeting and generating investment
opportunities”.
“I am returning
to create a system that would place premium on justice, peace and security and
that would challenge the entrepreneurial and competitive spirit of the Imo
people, which is the touch stone of Igbo high achievement. Above all, to add
value to leadership through accountability and responsible governance”.
“I am coming
back to complete the Imo free trade zone, Imo freeway, the ring roads, the
housing schemes, the wonder lake resort and conference centre, to rejuvenate
the tourism and hospitality sector, to boost agriculture through Agro-nova,
complete the Imo refinery and petrochemical project in the Oil communities of
Ohaji-Egbema and Oguta LGAs, and lots of others projects that was abandoned
immediately I left office in 2011”.
